★ "Dreamy artwork and verse reassure readers who are headed to bed...Enchanting, engaging, and restful."
Publishers Weekly, starred review
A gentle, poetic lullaby for baby, filled with memories from a perfect day playing on the beach.
Castles, sand dollars, seals peering out of the waves and the beat of the ocean become sweet reminders of all the magical things that await baby tomorrow. A lyrical celebration of natural beauty and a soft, reassuring reminder for little ones being tucked into bed that fun and adventure will return with a new day.
Elly MacKay’s paper-theater worlds are a delight to behold and infuse the story with a sense of magic and wonder. Beautiful verse from Laurie Elmquist sets a calm and serene tone. A breathtaking board book that will be treasured and make a wonderful gift.

"The text is lyrical...with greatly lulling effect...MacKay's evocatively lit cut- and marbled-paper dioramas are equally soothing, rendered in pastel twilight tones that suit the mood...A seaside bedtime idyll." -Kirkus Reviews

Instructions:
We used black paper, drawing our castle outline and details with silver and gold pens.
We covered the castle area with glue.
Sand was poured over the glue and then shaken off.
The beads were added with white glue after.
If you want to keep the sand from coming off, you can spray it with fixitive.
Materials:
cardstock (black is nice to show off the sand)
markers (we used gold and silver)
gluesticks or white glue
sand
beads or shells
